The role of trace mineral silica in the modern world

We are mineral beings, and we need essential minerals to function.

What is more important to you? Healthy eating and supplements to cover deficiencies, or to learn if there is an absorption issue on a deeper that led to the depletion?

We homeopaths call it addressing the root cause instead of masking it.

Ironically, supplementing Silica when we are deficient will stop the need to supplement most other minerals.

Many big homeopathic remedies are made from minerals. Silica is one of the biggest polycrest homeopathic remedies, and one of its main roles is supporting assimilation of nutrients. The remedy has so many positive effects on the human body and mind, and it makes perfect sense why it is so helpful to check our Silica level too.

Silica for the humans is like water to fish. Silica is a vital mineral required by human body for strong hair, flexible joints, glowing skin, and strong bones. It also increases the overall benefits of vitamin D, glucosamine, and calcium.

In the past it was believed silica was just a trace mineral, and that we only needed a very small amount of it to maintain health. However, with further research, silica is now considered one of the top 12 elements necessary for life.

As early as 1878, Louis Pasteur predicted that silica should be regarded as an important therapeutic substance for many health problems. Western populations (including UK) are deficient in dietary silica in comparison with people living in China or India. UK tap water contains very low level of dissolved Silica, and this mineral is required to remove toxic aluminium from the brain.

Studies have shown that people who have supplemented with silica at 375 mg per day, had good results in maintaining and regaining their health. Bamboo extract is the richest known source of silica as it contains 70% organic silica.
After age 40 silica levels starting to go down, and some sources suggest that with women it’s far worse than it is with men.

Why is that? I put that down to excessive contraceptives use and the body's continuous effort to metabolise synthetic hormones. This process will use up a big part of our silica resources.

Silica helps with:

- Thin and weak hair and hair loss
- Brittle nails
- Dry skin
- Arthritis
- Connective tissue health
- Weak bones and teeth
- Cellulite
- Poor gum health
- Weak immunity
- Weak capillaries and blood vessels
- Inflammation in the veins (phlebitis, thrombophlebitis)
- Wounds, burns, scared tissue
- Aluminium accumulation
- Cardiovascular support
- Stomach and digestive disorders

Without Silica, the body will not be able to absorb and produce collagen. This information is far more useful than the overrated collagen marketing.

Alopecia, balding can be easily helped with long term Silica supplementation.

OSTEOPOROSIS AND BONE HEALTH

There is no question that silica plays a very important role in bone formation and in bone health, and like Vitamin K2 and Vitamin D, Silica seems to be much more important for strong bones than Calcium.

Professor Kervran proved that 14 atoms of silica and 6 atoms of carbon make 20 atoms of calcium. He gave chickens silica and no calcium, and they produced solid, hard calcium eggshells. When he took the silica out of their diet, the eggshells were soft and couldn’t form the calcium.

My personal observation in practice is that most people today need detox of some sort to begin with, and after applying a long-term detox plan, we must replace the silica loss that the body used to complete these processes. Without Silica, chronic ill health often cannot be fully restored.

Would you like to check your Silica level and to see if you need to supplement it?
A homeopathic consultation, or a bioresoncance body scan can help to identify your personal deficits.
